Anatomy of a Landing Page

Okay, so now that we’ve got that out of the way, we can jump into a brief overview of what a landing page is and why you need it in your business plan for effective email marketing. But, if you aren’t too tech savvy and email marketing is new to you, the process may seem overwhelming. Let’s take it in bite-sized chunks.

What is a Landing Page?

A landing page is simply a page that you send customers for information relevant to their needs. You’ll notice in the featured image a generic version of landing pages. For a better idea, go to for a basic layout. Now, this landing page is far from perfect yet perfect from far.

The Anatomy of a Landing Page Broken Down

Let’s take a look at what a landing page has and how it functions. Bear in mind, not all landing pages are equal and some work better than others. For now, we’ll focus simply on a special version of a landing page called a squeeze page. Essentially, a squeeze page has one primary function – entice the site visitor to opt-in to an email list.

  1. Make an offer they can’t refuse. Know your market ahead of time. What is their problem? Offer them a unique solution if they share their email with you.
  2. An image relevant to the product. In some instances, an image isn’t needed at all. Once again, no your market and deliver exactly what they came for in the first place.
  3. A button for them to click when they want to take action and opt-in.
  4. Assurance of privacy is always a good thing. Place a reassuring note below the opt-in button, informing them their privacy is in good hands. Do NOT violate this issue. In other words, don’t share or sell your list to anyone.
